The Tools You Need For Motorcycle Maintenance
Riding a motorcycle is one of the most freeing and thrilling experiences there is, and being able to take care of smaller maintenance tasks on your own makes it all the more special. We here at East Bay Motorsports want to help you show off your independent streak, so we’ve put together a few of the tools you need for motorcycle maintenance, below. Screwdrivers, Wrenches, and Hex Wrenches
There are a lot of pins, screws, and other fastenings keeping your motorcycle together, and you’ll need to be able to remove them properly to get to its inner workings. For that, you’ll need a variety of sizes of screwdriver (both flathead and Phillips head), solid wrenches, and hex (also called Allen wrenches).
Tire Tools
If you get a flat on the road, it helps to be able to patch it on your own. A tire patch kit should include:
- CO2 cartridges
- Glue
- Tire patches
- Tire plugs
You should also have a tire pressure gauge in case there isn’t one built into your bike or it’s on the fritz.
Center Stand
For more serious maintenance, you’ll want a center stand to keep your bike steady. These are especially vital if a tire needs to come off for any reason, so make sure you include one in your motorcycle tool kit if there isn’t one built in.
