Keeping Your PWC Yours
Personal watercraft, also called PWC, are compact, powerful, and thrilling—but these all make them tempting targets for potential thieves. We here at East Bay Motorsports want to help you keep your PWC, so we’ve put together some tips for preventing PWC theft, below. To learn more, or to see the personal watercraft we have for sale, contact our store in Hayward, California, today!
On the Water
If at all possible, never leave your personal watercraft unattended when it’s in the water. This is when it’s easiest to zoom off with. You should also never leave your safety lanyard laying around or connected to a lifejacket you’re not using.
In a Trailer
While your PWC is in transit, it’s likely in a trailer. We recommend a fully-enclosed trailer, if you’re able, or that you secure your PWC in place using a lock. The trailer itself will need to be securely fastened to your vehicle to prevent people from detaching it, hooking it up to their own vehicle, and driving away with it. Try to park the tow vehicle in a way that makes it more difficult to remove the trailer to begin with, and use a hitch lock or a GPS unit to prevent theft or retrieve your belongings.
In Storage
When you put your personal watercraft away for a long time, make sure it’s parked out of sight, either behind a locked gate or in a garage or secure shed. Anti-theft wheel locks on the PWC trailer can also help.
We hope these tips help you keep your PWC secure! For more information, or to see the personal watercraft we have available, contact us at East Bay Motorsports. We proudly serve the Bay Area in California—let us serve you today!
