The Battery

Keeping your battery fully charged, even between rides, is the most effective way to extend its lifespan. Those who neglect battery maintenance are often the ones with a PWC that dies in the middle of their adventures, and are stuck needing to replace the battery—which is an expense that could have been avoided. In addition, it is also important to clean your battery after you’re done riding for the day. A dirty battery develops sulfate crystals on its plates which reduces its charging capabilities and shortens its lifespan as well.

Flush It

Riding in fresh or saltwater causes salt, debris, sand, and algae to build up, which contributes to corrosion in the cooling system and other components. So, don’t forget to flush your PWC after every ride. Every PWC is different, so for the proper procedure on how to flush your model, refer to your owner’s manual. However, the following is a general procedure that is usually carried out.

To start this process, connect a clean water source to your PWC’s flush fitting, turn on your engine, and then turn on the water. Twist the throttle to allow water to pump completely through the whole system, flushing out all debris and residue stuck inside. When finished, turn off the water and then the engine to keep water from flowing back through the lines and into the cylinders, which can cause the engine to lock up.

Wash and Wax

Keeping your PWC washed and wax is a must if you want to prevent it from fading and being damaged from UV rays. After every use, wash and wax the deck and hull, as well as the seats. Be sure to use the appropriate washing products specifically designed for your PWC’s materials. Otherwise, the paint can be smudged.

We hope these tips will help you keep your PWC running smoothly and looking spotless. If you’re looking to shop for some great deals on PWCs, then East Bay Motorsports is the right place to come. We are located in Hayward, CA, where we also proudly serve those from the Bay Area.
