While there’s quite a bit of info out there on how to clean powersport vehicles, a majority of this advice doesn’t apply to dirt bikes. Because they’re quite a bit smaller than ATVs or UTVs, they often require different cleaning methods and products. To learn how to correctly wash your dirt bike, as well as which tools you may need to have on hand, read our helpful instructions below!

Getting Started

Your dirt bike is likely covered in a pretty thick layer of dirt and mud that’s not going to be easy to remove. Removing all of that grime with a sponge or scrub brush is nearly impossible, so be sure to have a small scraping tool on hand as well. While you might be tempted to grab the nearby pressure washer, we advise you to avoid this. While larger powersport vehicles may be able to withstand the harsh stream of a pressure washer, dirt bikes are quite a bit smaller, and it’s very likely you’ll end up damaging your model.

Washing Your Dirt Bike

To wash your dirt bike you’ll need to purchase a mild bike soap and a small to medium-sized sponge. If you’re having trouble with smaller, more difficult areas, feel free to once again grab your stiff brush to get into those various cracks and crevices. Once you've got all the dirt removed, toss away your sponge and grab your hose for a quick rinse. Afterward, you’re free to dry your dirt bike off with a towel or allow it to dry in the sun. Just be sure your bike is completely dry before placing it inside, or it may develop rust or even mildew.
