How To Make Your Used Motorcycle Look New Again
There’s no shame in buying a used motorcycle, but just because you bought it pre-owned, it doesn’t have to look used! With a little elbow grease and insider tricks, you can get your new-to-you bike looking like it just rolled out of the dealership. If you’re trying to sell your bike, it’s a good way to get top dollar. And haven’t we all cleaned up a car or bike to sell, and asked “Why didn’t I do this for myself ages ago?”.
Read the following tips we have put together and hit us up with any questions! We’re East Bay Motorsports in Hayward, CA, where we proudly serve the entire Bay Area at our dealership.
Wash And Wax
OK, you probably figured this one out already, but giving your motorcycle a detailed wash and a fresh coat of wax is one of the simplest ways to improve the aesthetics of your motorcycle. Get into the corners to get rid of built-up grime and gunk, and make your paint shine. Then ride with pride!
Shine Rubber, Leather, and Chrome
You might already have the products you need for this step stashed in your garage for your car. Shine up the rubber, polish up the chrome and recondition the leather for a sharp-looking machine!
A Fresh Paint Job
Another layer of fresh, shiny paint will make your motorcycle look like a gem. Covering up faded paint and scratches will do a whole lot to improve a used motorcycle's appearance. If you’re feeling extra fly, get a custom paint job and turn some heads!
Replace Grips and Seat Covers
With every mile, you put a little wear-and-tear on your seat covers and grips. Once they get ragged, torn, and faded, they really age a motorcycle. Swap them out with new ones to boost the motorcycle's aesthetic. It’s also a chance to upgrade to a more comfortable seat, too.
Replace or Upgrade Tires And Rims
Rims and tires can take a beating when they put on the miles. Look close and you’ll probably see a ton of scratches and nicks caused by rocks and other hazards on the road. Install a new set of tires and rims and transform your bike, or pick a brand-new style and make a statement.
Pull the Old Accessories
Your bike might have some accessories that are aging it prematurely like a saggy saddle bag or a cracked windshield. Replace them and take a few years off your bike.
