Towing a UTV is difficult, damages your vehicles, and may even break traffic laws depending on where you live. Avoid these hassles by reading our handy guide on how to haul your UTV instead! Tow Vehicle

The first thing you’ll need to do is check your tow vehicle. Some vehicles have higher weight capacities than others so it’s important that you check your owner's manual to be sure your vehicle can handle your UTV’s weight. If it can’t and you risk hauling it anyway, you’re very likely to cause serious damage to your vehicle.  If you’re not sure how much your UTV weighs it should be listed in the owner’s manual. However, you could also stop by a truck stop with an included trailer scale and measure its weight that way. 

Tools

To haul your UTV you’ll need a few tools. At a minimum, you’ll need wheel chocks for each of your UTV’s wheels, as well as strong bungee or rope ties. Check to be sure that your vehicle or trailer has included anchors. If it doesn’t you can easily purchase some D-ring anchors for a few dollars at your local hardware store. These are easy to insert with a drill and only take a moment to install. Lastly, while this may vary depending on the type of trailer you have, you’ll want to purchase some small ramps to get your UTV into the bed. 

Supplies

Remember that you’ll need to pack important supplies for your UTV when you travel. A small gas can and a few necessary tools can be lifesavers if your UTV breaks down while you’re using it. Remember to also bring the necessary safety gear and a first aid kit in case of a crash or accident.
